Second Sunday Sharing

It might be the middle of summer, but we’re enjoying some great worship services out of doors at the Chip! (Of course, we do have indoor worship available for those who prefer it.) I look forward to seeing you for a special day of worship tomorrow morning at 9:00.

As we continue our trek through the Gospel of John, I’ll be focussing on the prayer of Jesus in John 17. Did you know that Jesus prayed for us? Imagine that! We’ll take a look at three of the things Jesus included in his prayer, and think about how we can be part of the answer to his prayer.

It’s the second Sunday of the month, so we have two opportunities to serve people in Jesus’ name tomorrow. In the first place, bring your nonperishable food items to worship. We’ll ask God’s blessing on them, and then we’ll deliver them to the Foothills Food Bank so they can bring a blessing to hungry people in our community. (We do this every second Sunday of the month.)

In addition, Good SAM (Share-a-Meal) is tomorrow evening at 5:00. We’d love to have you join us as we serve 40-50 homeless people in south Scottsdale. It’s something we do on the second and last Sundays of the month. You may also wish to check out the board which allows you to donate items we distribute at this event. Get more details tomorrow, or send us an email and we’ll forward you more specific information. (By the way, thanks to you, we’ve been able to purchase 260 cases of water to distribute this summer.)

Finally, we can’t wait for August 20! On that day, Northern Transit System, a “Newgrass folk band,” will sing for us during our morning worship hour. They’ve done it before, and we’re delighted to have them back again. Allie Nasr, who was my singing partner when I led worship in the Coffee House at North Ridge Community Church, is the founder and lead singer of this group. Don’t miss it.

That’s it for now. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning.

God bless you,

Steve
