Celebrate Christmas at the Chip

Christmas season is here, and we’re thrilled that we can spend it together as a church family. Here is a brief list of some of the special ways we will be celebrating Christmas at the Chip.

December 2 and 3 at 7:00 p.m.
Cave Creek Christmas Pageant
It’s a 65 year tradition in Cave Creek, and we love being a part of it. At 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, hundreds of people will gather under the stars to see the Christmas story reenacted, primarily by local high schools students. It is accompanied by an a cappella choir singing many traditional Christmas carols. With professional lighting and sound, it’s a truly inspirational experience. Come early, bring a chair and/or a blanket, and enjoy a unique Cave Creek Christmas celebration. To find it, take Spur Cross Road as far north as you can go.

December 3 at 5:00 p.m.
Chili Supper and Christmas Pageant
To make the Christmas Pageant extra special, come to our home at 5:00 p.m. for a casual Chili Supper before heading out to the Pageant (Sunday night only). Join us for some of Donna’s famous homemade Christmas goodies, and several varieties of Chili, and then we’ll car pool to the event at 6:30 or so. Our address is 6540 E Military Road in Cave Creek. No RSVP necessary, but if you’d like to contribute your own favorite chili, you’re more than welcome to do so.

December 24 at 6:00 p.m.
Campfire Christmas Eve Service
It’s a beautiful way to celebrate Christmas Eve: under the stars, around a campfire, just like the very first Christmas. If you’ve never experienced a Church at the Chip Christmas Eve service, you are in for a treat! We sing Christmas carols, read the Christmas story, light the Christmas candles, and hear a Christmas message. It’s a highlight of the church year, and a great opportunity to invite your friends to experience Cowboy Church under the stars.

These are the main special events during the season, but of course, we have our regular worship service every Sunday morning at 9:00 (including December 24 and 31), where we’ll gather, as we always do, to celebrate the God who walked in human skin, and who gave his life to rescue and renew his beautiful, though broken, creation.

One more thing: This Sunday (December 3), we will have Breakfast at the Chip immediately following our morning worship hour. Join us for complimentary cowboy grub this Sunday morning. Yes, it will be a busy day — but it will be a great day. See you Sunday!

God bless you,

Steve and Donna Gilbertson
