April may be my favorite month of the year. Within the space of 10 days, we celebrate three birthdays: our son’s, our daughter’s, and most recently, our grandson’s, whose first birthday was last week. Add to that the fact that all of these special days are so near to Resurrection Sunday, and it’s just a whole lot of happy thoughts. There’s so much to celebrate!
With that in mind, this season of the year is called Eastertide, that 50-day period between Jesus’ resurrection and Pentecost Sunday. It’s been my joy as your pastor to spend the last few weeks reflecting on the resurrection as we’ve gathered for worship on Sunday — and I look forward to doing it again this week. Hope you can join us: He is Risen!
This Sunday (April 22) is also the date of our quarterly Birthday/Anniversary/Newcomer Barbecue. We do this every quarter as a way of getting our growing church family together, and so that anyone new to our church family can get to know us better.
So … if your birthday or anniversary is in the months of February, March or April …
Or … if you are new to our church family …
Or … you’re just looking for something fun to do this Sunday evening …
You’re invited to our home at 5:30 on April 22 to enjoy a casual barbecue (brats and dogs). If you want to bring a dessert or side dish, you can. But if that’s not convenient, come anyway. There’s certain to be plenty for everyone.
We live at 6540 E Military Road in Cave Creek. From the Buffalo Chip: L on Cave Creek; L on School House; L on Military. (RSVP not necessary, but appreciated.)
